He may be injured or unfit because of illness. Or he may just be knackered after last year's efforts: not just the Tour but the Olympics too. Or maybe he just didn't fancy plying domestique to Froome.</p> <p>Cavendish is looking a bit off form on occasion this year too, despite some memorable sprints in this year's Tour. This year he told Sky management that he couldn't make that commitment again, he'd sooner spend time with his family. Which is why he's had nothing like the form this year that he had last. With that lack of commitment I would question why anyone would want to sign him for the Tour.
