Didn't someone mention somebody had tried to set fire to their bike by lighting the plastic bag they had stashed under their seat? Perhaps there's been an epidemic of such attempts

I had an alloy Seatpin that seized itself into a 753 Frame of mine.

Took it Jocky Allan cycles and he burnt it out for me.

Damaged the paintwork much more than that on the Dave Lloyd though.

I don't own such a bicycle, I'm afraid. Sounds odd though - do you think they potentially used a blowtorch on the seat tube to try to expand it, thus freeing the seat post? I've been advised before to do something similar to free a stuck bottom bracket.

Apparently looking at a bicycle is deemed as weird behaviour on a cycling forum.

I am honoured.

Has no one else looked at the burnt paintwork on your blue Dave Lloyd ? Was wondering whether it was a frane repair or a seized seat tube.

Must not act wierd in the future when I am killing time till Park run starts 8-)

It was a bit late to email the organisers, I figured, so I just risked it. Not exactly much of a risk, as there were loads of bikes all around the start/finish line as you'd suggested, @Stickman, and some were not locked up. However, I took my lock and cable, and you can attach your bike to the fence. Not something that I would consider ideal in normal circumstances, but considering the number of people around at that time, it seemed safe enough, even when a guy then proceeded to wander up the line of bikes, eyeballing each one, and then seemed to take an extra interest in the underside of my seat. Weird.

I used to do parkrun a few years ago and there were a lot of bikes left around the start/finish line. There are organisers around there but I wouldn't think it was fair to expect them to also keep an eye on the bikes.

Things may have changed since then. Why not drop them an email to find out?

I'm contemplating doing the 5km Edinburgh parkrun tomorrow, at Silverknowes, and was going to get there on my bike, but I'm not too sure whether that's a good idea as I'm not entirely sure there's anywhere to lock my bike up? Does anyone know?
