Interesting article from the Guardian <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2011/oct/28/mortality-statistics-causes-death-england-wales-2010">here</a> on deaths in England and Wales in 2010.</p> <p>So, things that kill more than 2 people a year (which, coincidentally, is the exact number of pedestrians killed in collision with pedal cyclists in 2010).</p> <p>3 - Bitten by dog<br /> 5 - Pedestrian in collision with motorbike<br /> 5 - Accidental suffocation in bed<br /> 5 - Contact with hornets, bees and wasps<br /> 7 - Bitten by other mammal<br /> 29 - Drowning in the bath<br /> 39 - Pedestrian hit by train<br /> 53 - Fall from a ladder<br /> 55 - Pedestrian in collision with lorry or bus<br /> 91 - Fall from, out of, or through (?) building<br /> 129 - Exposure to 'forces of nature'<br /> 133 - Pedestrian in collision with car or van<br /> 188 - Alcohol poisoning<br /> 203 - Car occupant in collision with stationary object<br /> 214 - Accidental hanging/strangulation<br /> 319 - Assault<br /> 433 - Medical complications<br /> 808 - Car occupant in 'transport accident'<br /> 3,377 - Intentional self-harm </p>
