I find I can easily keep a good line without one but any slight deviation in the line of the bike is exaggerated by the trailer. This may be not very good riding by me of course. </p> <p>Most manufacturers keep the width to within the standard width of a wheelchair I believe which should make most entrances and gaps between barriers on paths wide enough. The one into the tunnel going to the innocent path is fine for example. Width is OK. Motorists are terrified of them so you get bags of room. Issues getting through chicanes and bollards but never had to lift - just careful steering. But it doesn't seem to be available any more.
