And its quite a good section, but for some environmental mitigation reason they have built up earth bunding in places which rather spoils the view. Its still good to able to go all the way round. My preference is anti clockwise. If you are feeling lazy you can swing up to Loch leven's Larder for tea & cakes and a good view over the loch. Watch out for swarms of flies occasionally in places, depends on the wind.

The path is made up of gray fine gravel, it varies in width in places and takes you through woodland, along the lochside etc. The best way is to start at Kingsgate Park at Kinross and go anti clockwise. If you are included you can swing off up to Loch Leven's Larder for refreshments and a good outside seat with viwes across the Loch. The current path stops at RSPB Vane Farm and you'll have a 3 mile cycle on the road to get back to Kinross. it's thios last section that they are starting. Better with a hybrid or a mountain bike.

"At present ramblers, cyclists and bird watchers can get three quarters of the way round but then face a walk along a busy road, with no pavement, to return to their cars."

Och, the poor dears. Bicycles are allowed on the road, you know.

The first mile clockwise from Kinross was a pretty decent surface as I recall. Hard-packed whindust type of surface I think.

I've not done but I have met very confused ramblers at Vane farm (where it ended before) facing up to a long walk back.

Sounds like excellent news. I've not explored the existing path, what sort of condition is it ?
