<description>&#60;p&#62;@EddieD I've said on here before that Paris feels very safe to cycle in. The Armagnac may have helped, but I suspect the key thing is the general (perceived) chaotic nature of driving in places like Place de la Concorde and L'Etoile means that drivers know they have to pay attention and so they stay alert.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The Velib obviously help too, as there are loads more cyclists on the roads as a result.

<description>&#60;p&#62;The setts on the Champs Elysée are in a tad better condition than e.g. George Square.  On the way back from a cycling holiday on the west of France I took my bike round Paris - nowhere near as worrying as I expected.
