I suddenly realised that although the traffic lights were visible to me, I could hardly see which light was illuminated.</p> <p>Then I read this evening that there are modern traffic lights which are deliberately designed not to be visible at wider angles so that only the intended lane can see it. It was one of the modern-type signals, with the matrix lens (rather than the curved glass one of old) Now this is all well and good if you are back a bit, in a higher vehicle or are approaching the light from a distance. But completely useless if you're placed on a bike where you can't really make out the signal.</p> <p>I'm now struggling to remember where this was as I commented to my riding companion at the time that the junction design was poor as there was no repeater lights on the far side of the junction and it was very hard to see the changing signal.</p> <p>Anyone else noticed lights like these? </p>
