Not only did I get the hang of it, I was able to teach other people after a while too.

The only time that I couldn't get someone to master it was a sizing issue. The bike was just too big for her and she couldn't get enough power into the the all-important first revolution, and/or was having to compensate for having to cycle on tippytoes at the same time.

I did have one guy who was initially defeated by the Fuego, but did get the Bacchetta, and then went back to the Fuego successfully.

I'd love a go at riding bents, but cant't justify the cost of one, unless I was to get rid of one of my bikes. Thats never gonna happen!

It feels oddly like riding a bike without any handlebars, kind of, only it turns out to get a lot easier after a few tries. Great fun to have a go at anyway.

If you like water borne activities you'll love recumbents... (!)

Seriously though riding a 'sitting down' bike is worth doing just to prove you can. Haven't found anyone not able to do so if they want to (as long as they can ride an upright bike).

Uberuce just moved into a whole new zone of balance at the LB try out zone last weekend and it hasn't harmed him (physically!)

Not read the article but Mr MeepMeep and I experienced the weird sensation of the world rocking gently to and fro each evening* after we'd spent our days out on the dive boat for a week. Was the strangest feeling. Sitting down, standing up, laying down, walking up and down stairs...

(*This was before any alcohol was consumed!)

I think I remember Tommy Godwin needing to relearn walking after his year in the saddle.

"Still, like the common cold, there may be no single explanation for motion sickness. Neither he nor anyone else has explained why there should be any subjective consequences to getting in a car, or why we maintain a lifelong talent for riding a bicycle while even experienced sailors struggle at sea after months on land."
