All of my driving lessons were in the dark. My actual driving test was the first time in daylight. And yes, I did get into the car and switch the lights on...the examiner had the grace to smile when I explained! To this day I actually prefer night driving.

The lights got fitted to the bike this morning...and the first autumnal outing for the 'proper' waterproof jacket.

Colinton Road this morning was just a car park all the way from Napier down to the Myreside traffic lights. Hilarious.

My driving test was scheduled for Christmas Eve when it snowed; fortunately for me, the test was postponed due to a lack of available testers.

Roads were busier this morning, I left earlier than normal and they were still pretty bad.

I learned to drive in the summer, I had a few slightly dodgy lessons in weather but nothing bad. Having passed my test I discovered driving in the dark isn't much fun and the first time it snowed I discovered a rear wheel drive car was new kind of fun.

My first driving lesson was 2 hours long and included a flurry of snow, falling darkness of nighttime then icy road conditions to boot. It was November in rural Aberdeenshire so could've been worse!

I thought the roads were busier but, like twq, I left a few minutes later than normal so had attributed it to that. I also took a 7 mile detour as well though which meant by the time I was cycling down from Gillespies crossroads to Calder Road, the traffic was starting to significantly pick up.

Surprised at the number of people driving their cars without lights on, especially in the haar.

It occurred to me yesterday that, unlikely as it is in Scotland, it is possible to take lessons and pass your test without ever having driven in bad weather or the dark.

The analogy that springs to mind is a self-defence course that only teaches you to handle unarmed people under 50kg in weight and in very poor health.

There was a lot of bad driving this morning, and more traffic than usual round Arthur's Seat. Perhaps it's because I left 15 mins later than usual.

I'm presuming it's down to a little inclemency in the weather. From St Leonards to the West End alost every junction seemed to have cars stranded in the middle as drivers failed to check the exit was clear before pulling into it (or rather knew there was a massive queue ahead but went anyway, in a few cases it looked like because the person behind started hooting aggressively).
