Great story.

A few years back, my bike was nicked off the bike carrier whilst parked in my office car park!

I looked out the window, probably to relieve boredom and noticed the bike gone. Dashed down to 'security' who reviewd CCTV. 3 lads passing through the car park nicked it only 20 minutes before, and headed off towards whitson/saughton mains.

jumped in a colleagues car to drive around the area. after less than 10 minutes in the car, a towrag passed us on the bike! Like this lady i jumped out the car and gave chase.

The ned left the bike outside a shop at stenhouse cross. When he left, i nearly put him back in via the window.

Luckily he then jumped up and ran off - twice being nearly run over! I say lucky because despite being about 15/16 he was a fair bit bigger than me! Also i could quite easily have ended up on a more serious criminal charge than him. Instinct is a weird thing though

Despite the short theft/recovery timeframe, the gits had stripped the bike of lights, computer, seatpost QR(!) and saddlebag.

@Le Cow: I believe you have published my opinions on this matter.

MTBs are scum and must die. Unless you're doing mountain stuff.

Oh, and it turns out that with road slicks installed they're boss for dragging trailers and pretty handy for Edinburgh's shameful awful surfacing and iconic New Town cobble surfacing.

And I really want a fixed rigid 29er with knobbly spikes for snow days.

Most importantly: just because I say things now which directly contradict what I've said in the past doesn't mean I was wrong.

So there.

but why on earth would you use suspension during triathlon? not to mention it must weigh a relative tonne compared to a proper tri bike.

Xtri??

Know both these guys and wish more people could get their bikes back. Hope they get the thief!

"Must admit, if I was shelling out 3k for a bike intended to be used for cyclocross and triathlons, I think I'd have got a different beast."

I'm mystified by that too. I know MTBs are permitted in cyclocross but why on earth would you use suspension during triathlon? not to mention it must weigh a relative tonne compared to a proper tri bike.

Bizarre indeed.

"If anyone who stole my bike went passed me whiles [sic] in a car, they would find themselves underneath the vehicle.
I'd then smash them up and leave with my bike.
No need for the police, just a bit common sence [sic]."

Hmmm, missing a bit of common sense there!

Isaac, and looks like a full crabbypattycake frame.
Pretty sure the late TBC used to sell them as their top line of MTB.

I like the intervention of the passer by who says to the alleged thief - just wait and the police will sort it out at which point he gets off the bike and runs off.

The comment comes from a woman who lives in north Edinburgh (in my head) and is going for a joke that isn't funny anymore (cyclist stopping at traffic light shocker). I imagine it was too hard to resist the opportunity

Front page news as well. Not seen the brand yet, £3k worth! The first commenter has already managed to find his tiny appendage forcing him to make a snarky line that sullies a good news story.
