Put up the marquee and be done with it, and they can pay to camp some place more suited.</p> <p>Or council can accept that these events provide useful income and provide hardstandings. While I understand that the council has been charging the relevant parties for the cost of reinstatement of new turf (for the last couple of years), it seems to take 2 or 3 months for the council to actually get the reinstatement work done on the Meadows. In Princes St gardens after the winter festival last year, it took even longer and looked like a ploughed field for ages.</p> <p>I think the presence of shows in the various parks is great, per se, but the shows that stay for weeks at a time cause heavy damage to the local environment.
