Melville Drive would be a normal route for me, but I'm shaking things up a bit after getting bored with the same sights every day. I only mention cos I'm another in shorts (well, 3/4s) year-round.

Re: Ordinary Cyclists. It was a bit of a turn out for the usual suspects. The nearest they got was one chap who happened to be a member of Edinburgh Road Club he was quite eloquent too so a Ian Maxwell pounced on him and got him to do an interview for Tram Television so it might appear the following page soon.

Anyone know anything about the person who 'flew' along the tram tracks close to the Spokes contingent at Castle Street about 2.30?

Kim: Sorry this site seems to autocrop and when I tried to go to a new firefox tab and grab the image url and came back the whole thing had scrolled the centre blog column to the left so I couldn't see the Send Post button
Go here:

Only half my front wheel made it in to the picture! So did people find the tram track training useful? Remember always try to cross the tracks at an angle of 45 deg or greater. Do not be tempted to try and drift across the tracks a shallow angle, you might get away with it in the dry, but if they are wet you will go down. Should do so, try to make sure there is not an Evening News journalist standing on the pavement next to you...

Good LORD I am not getting into that EN comments stramash, I've not even read halfway down and I have lost the will to live not to mention run out of lunch break...

SRB - re the Preston St school - I used to work there and yes it is a nightmare. As I also drive from time to time and know that junction even in the quiet times I can honestly say my eyes are often looking front and not in wing mirrors all the time (or I would crash) which is probably why I was knocked off my new bike in June coming down Dundas St and passed a double parked delivery lorry only to get body slammed by a driver who had seen me in the split second he had the chance.
Point I am making is I learned great though it may be to have the advantage of speed and size through gaps no driver is ever aware of 306° perception

On another note - how many of the people on here will be down at Castle Street for this "training"? I am curious and will probably pop along (mostly because I want to speak to the bike station folks abour donating a pile of old bike bits left behind by the local Napier building (bless em)

I just read some more - Anth you really volunteered to meet people at the Commie? How did that go?

*reads more*
*gapes*
