The work done should still be guaranteed. For a full service they quote "6 month guarantee on all work carried out."
I don't know what they will have offered on your service of course. Now, whether that will entitle you to a refund and/or fixing the fault is between you, them and perhaps quoting the law. But I'd take that route first, if only to save paying twice.

I am pretty sure I still have the sheet they gave me so maybe it says on there? Might be worth a look.

Although. I think I would prefer never to go back again, certainly not with precious hardware. Maybe it was £12 (I think it was) well spent in the end? Could have been a lot worse.

Well, the problem is, the non-repair was done a little while ago and I just haven't ridden it since. Otherwise I definitely would be straight back to the shop. :-( Next time I get a repair done, I will ride the bike straight away to check. Luckily it wasn't expensive.

I can also imagine demanding a full refund AND my bike getting fixed. Not getting what I pay for is just not acceptable

Yes, I was thinking I could time it with a wee visit to LB. :-) Opening times seem amenable. I'll get a second opinion on the chain as well, guy kept going on about it but it doesn't seem likely it could be that badly stretched to me since it can't have done that many miles.

Can you work a bike works trip into a PY coffee morning or hanging with laidback?

I've found I can carry the folder on the back of the big bike, which is handy for leaving it at a shop and still being able to cycle home etc.

Still, no excuse for bad service from a certain chain.

Another vote for Bike Works, worth the journey I think. I've not let EBC fix anything on my bikes after putting my MTB in for a service about 8 years ago and it coming out working worse than when it went in, necessitating me taking a day out of my weekend to re-service it myself which was exactly what I'd been trying to avoid having to do.

We need to force Mark back into cycle retail and to hell with his good reasons for moving out of it!

(tis truly rubbish given how local it was for you)

Imagine your much loved cycle shop has been sold to a chain and you still lament its loss and the loss of a wee smile and a wave from the wee beardy face of the owner when you walk past the window.

Imagine you take your hub-geared bike in to the bought-over shop and ask for the skipping gears to be fixed.

Imagine they hand your bike back and charge you.

Now imagine you ride that bike and find that it hasn't been fixed after all and is just as bad as it was before.

GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
