I think that they are extending the canal towards Bo'ness. There is stll an "exit" into the Carton at the Jellies but there is also a branch east going under the M9.

The wall route is not surprisingly parallel to and sometimes on the Forth and Clyde canal from Balmuidy fort to Falkirk fort. The canal of course doesn't go to the Clyde but to wharves in cowcaddens, it does go to the forth at carron, again where the industry was. Whereas the wall goes south to Bo'ness instead.

Just been on the wall website and following the map. Only ever seen it before at the Falkirk wheel

Yes I have had to open the zips on mine

On the Antonine wall, we could take the Waverley to Milngavie train picking up wee folding bike at airdrie and alight at Bearsden. This is not the very start of the wall it is just the easiest single train. Old Kilpatrick to Bo'ness is the route. Good cinema in Bo'ness.

Looks like they have been bigging up this mostly turf fortification over recent years and many forts, artefacts etc.

It's a good fit but a uphill road this morning at about 6 degrees left me a touch steamy (I had a medium thickness base layer on).

I'm interested. I've often wondered what the remains of the wall look like.

I had a very pleasant day off today in Falkirk, visiting the Helix and Kelpies along with the Wheel and Leckies.

Crossing the Antonine Wall, it struck me that it might make an interesting CCE ride. It could be followed more or less, with regular stops to examine it along with other local highlights. It would probably require a train ride to the far end of the ride to make it more enjoyable.

Anyone interested or got ideas? I am thinking more towards springtime than just now.
