Any idea on how much the FITS is? I get low back pain when on the road bike for over an hour and I may have just had an agreement in principle with the wife to do an full distance triathlon which would involve 112 miles on the bike. I'd need to something sorted anyway.

Thanks for the replies - sounding good.
Still not entirely sure if it'd be appropriate if I have no intention of getting a road bike.. are they only geared up for road bike set ups or is the geometry fairly transferrable?
I'd be looking to use the drawings to base a hybrid on I think.

I got it done thinking they were going to help me set up my bike - in reality they got my dream bike in "just so I could try it" in my size and I ended up buying it.

Good guys at the tri centre.

I had no idea how much it costs, £35 is fairly cheap considering how much time and money some folk spend on a bike.

Might get some measurements done and hope it the bike I've my eye on falls within the parameters!

PS - good article Baldcyclist, think that has convinced me!

I have had a fitting from there, although it was done specifically for buying a custom built road bike from them. The end result was that the bike was set up exactly the same as my commuting road bike with the exception of the handlebars being too low, but they themselves pointed out that was a matter of personal preference, so I recently moved all the spacers below the stem.

I certainly found it helpful, they measured lots of bits of me that I hadn't expected would be relevant. Whether I'd have done it if I had paid for it (it was free for me since I was getting the bike through them), is doubtful, though. But that's probably influenced by the fact that I managed, by trial, error and blind luck, to get my commuter set up "correctly".

After years of fiddling with the set up of my bike I'm finally facing facts that the whole thing may just be too small (I'm 6ft 3in, currently I've got my stem extended about 5in - not particularly safe I suspect!)

Has anyone used the Tri Centre fitting to get drawings of their ideal set up? Is it helpful? The website seems very road bike orientated... would they still be able to do drawings for a crusty old commuter you reckon?
