Well, I can report that the rain wrap works fine with a crossbar and seems to do a decent job of keeping the rain off, even in today's gale (blog)

Getting on, I had to tilt the bike over to stop leg+skirt getting caught up in the pannier and saddle, but once on board, as it's a wrap the skirt just drapes over the crossbar in front of you with no bunching, and there's an elastic and garter to keep it more or less in place, except in a real headwind. I didn't seem to need a chainguard or skirt guard either - the crossbar keeps it out of the way of any moving parts. Much less sweaty and inconvenient than waterproof trousers too - a bit of a win all round.

Bras are one of those things I'm rapidly becoming a retrogrouch about (see also trousers), whether worn on the bike or not so I could easily go off topic into a rant about bras in general and the awfulness of modern life in particular. But then again, as I ride pretty much every day in whatever I'm wearing so 'cycle kit' covers my entire wardrobe ...

I'll text you if I see a 32D, do likewise for a 32A and maybe we can swap?

(There are plenty of 32As for non-sports bras, but they seem to be growing increasingly hideous. Either underwired or those pre-shaped cup ones or itchy-looking lace. But I suspect we're getting way off topic here so I'll stop and spare the boys' blushes)

Ha! Try finding a 32D. Just as rare. In fact, I'm sure I only ever see As....maybe we need to switch where we shop.

I still like the idea of a merino sports bra, but as I recall when I ventured into the shop that claimed to sell them I didn't have any luck.

@sallyhinch I'm a 34A and I think all my sports bras are M&S ones and I find them comfortable. Otherwise I have Sloggi (sp?) crop top type things which I like for hillwalking and got in Matalan - but I think they might be nylon.

Talking of women-specific clothing, does anyone have a recommendation for bras in breathable fabrics? I find full-on sports bras a bit uncomfy and also rarely find any my size anyway. M&S do a nice pull-on crop top which is very comfortable but basically nylon and gets really sweaty. I was buying the American Apparel cotton ones but I'm feeling a bit queasy about their advertising & general sleaziness and they're not that well made either. I've got all these brilliant merino base layers, but there's not much point if your bra is a sweaty mess! I don't need that much support, but I do need something more than 'none'. I was rather jealous of the Team GB ones the women were wearing in the Olympics but sadly that's one bit of replica kit they weren't offering for sale ...

I'm too old for that sort of thing. I like the rain skirt, though. Minx-girl did some "skorts" - shorts with a little wrap-round skirt, which I thought looked good but again too young for me. There don't appear to be any on the site at the moment, though.
