We walk up hills in them and they do the job. </p> <p>My previous pair of waterproof trousers, also Berghaus, were not so good, because the opening at the bottom wasn't big enough to get over a pair of size 6 walking boots without a huge struggle. Not very useful. I bought a pair of whatever was in the shop donkeys years ago, immediately fell down and tore them but they have still lasted all this time with occasional bits of tape.
