The under-stair cupboard was broken into just before this weekend, and our neighbour's Scott MTB was nicked. Gits.

That's as good a guess as any. Neighbour's front wheel fixed with a security skewer, so maybe... On the other hand might have just wanted the cap and spacers?

About 18 months ago (maybe longer) I found someone had nicked the mounting bracket for a Hamax child seat from my bike in the stair. That is a lot of effort, I can tell you: four long allen key bolts tight up against the rear mudguard. Later the same night, found the bracket on an upstairs landing, minus the long bolts and the backplate, so basically useless. Still have it in the garage.

Utterly bizarre also.

So they only took the cap, spacers and bolt? That's very weird! It would take some effort to get a headset out without waking all and sundry up with the malleting.

I struggle to fathom what they would be trying to steal.

...just in time for Christmas. Like last year.

Came back from the primary school nativity concert to find my neighbour's bike apparently missing handlebars. In fact they were dangling by the cables, and the thief had removed the headset cap, spacers and bolt (decent EBC or Cane Creek items I think). After nervously checking our own bikes (all intact as far as we could see) we alerted our neighbour who promptly took his bike inside his flat.

Must have happened sometime this morning. I'm a bit worried the thief will be back for more parts later, will need to keep an ear on the stair.
