imagine a chain gang with one dynamo in a group doing power duties for multiple light sets. It add a new dimension to drafting on the commute too.

Yup. The induction mats are pricey (about £50) and suffer from only being able to charge one item at a time. The potential for resonance to do lots of nearby items at the same time is pretty cool (although presumably with a speed limit of current divided by number of items charging). Remains to be seen if the cost comes in somewhere in the reach of mere mortals...and if wider consumer devices can freely use the tech without getting sued by Apple/Samsung etc...

Yes, just showing the 'contrast'.

Remains to be seen if one or other (or both) works out.

@ch That link just seems to look at the induction mats, but the resonance stuff is mentioned here:

I noticed a few news articles saying that the big phone manufacturers are aiming to bring out devices in 2014 which use magnetic resonance charging. This means you can charge devices at a range of up to a metre. (differs from current wireless induction charging where you have to put the device on a charging pad)

I just thought, this is going to be excellent for bike lights/computers/helmet-cams etc - park your bike in its usual spot at home beside a socket+charger, and let all the devices just recharge overnight. So much less faff.
