Now Ben fogle and James crack nell following Thesiger into the empty quarter in Oman. Crack nell was hit by a petrol tanker whilst doing RAAM or similar in 2010. He does appear quite affected. For some reason instead of taking guides they are going to try to read maps. Perhaps it makes good telly?

this looks like a good effort

Seems to be roughly following the route Tom took in his movie Janapar that we put on as part of cycle film festival. Tom only made it as far as Tehran but if you want to know why you will need to buy his book or watch the movie.

In fact parts of this route are probably set out in Patrick Leigh Fermor's book Hook of Holland to Constantinople. Paddy allegedly. On 80 to 100 fags a day and died aged 96, after his dinner. (See also Wifred Thesiger and Eric Newby as public school boy explorers who invented travel writing)

Hope you all got the bike of your choice for Xmas? All the best for 2014.

Just found about about Chris over the festive break - friend of a friend of a friend..... He is currently in Iran and not risking posting to the blog while passing through what he says is a wonderful friendly country.
Apparently he will be home in time to volunteer for the friendly games in Glasgow 2014.
