chesser leased

Not sure what assets are left that aren't already up for sale

Tend not to sell with planning permission granted as I think this might look dodgy?

I presume Chesser House will be sold (or is it leased? Returned to landlord?). Also, apparently some lightly used offices/storage facilities on Kings Stables Road have been earmarked for disposal.

"Otherwise known as: 'Selling the family silver' for short term gain."

Always a danger of that, but I'm sure councils (and businesses) can identify 'assets' that are 'underused/(genuinely) surplus to requirement'.

There may also be things that could be used better by local groups/community rather than just sold to the highest bidder.

Worst case is where building/land is sold and the new owner adds significant value by change of use through the planning system.

Would like to think that CEC would sell some things 'with planning permission' or have some sort of profit share clause (unlikely).

Selling stuff when times are bad & prices low is bound to be a 'bad thing'

Only the Evening News could use the adjectives "swathe, double whammy, inflated, escalate" to describe increases that include school milk and library late fees going up 1p to 16p.

Also that it's a "double-whammy of fee increases for [hard pressed] motorists" to put up parking meter charges by 7%, but "marginal" to increase wasp nests removal by 5%!

"

Huge swathes of land and buildings are to be sold off to create a fighting fund for new jobs.

...

City chiefs are being tight lipped as to exactly which buildings are to be included in the sale.
