She and her husband Ian also lead a campaign for safer cycling in the city after he lost his son – Lynne’s stepson – Andrew in 2012 when he was killed while cycling to work.

And here's a guest post from Lynne on the POP site.

A poster from Andy would be brilliant ...

Lesley Hinds signed up via Lynne McNicoll thanks to the power of twitter

i - it's an important point - that cycling has to be about improving livability for cities for everyone (even those who can't/don't cycle) rather than having bikes and pedestrians put in conflict with each other over the tiny amount of space that's left over once the cars have got the lion's share...

Perhaps our magnificent octopus could make a specific poster design for "Pedestrian on Parliament"

We'd need to decide where the pedestrians are going to gather at the Meadows and also how they will go down the route to parliament. Perhaps they start off the procession with their wonderful posters and t-shirts and then all the bikes can overtake. That way all the walkers can arrive at parliament before the last of the bikes arrive.

(To clarify this motivation) This movement is about making cycling an option for 95% of the population and consistant for improving the walkability of our living spaces.

yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Please do, that would be brilliant and exactly what we want.

Lynne McNicoll (step mother of Andrew McNicoll and a big supporter of POP) will be on foot this year because she broke her wrist in the ice. I think she's looking for people to join her.

The only thing I would say is that if folk are coming on foot, they should bring something (placard, banner, t-shirt) that identifies them as part of POP. We had a few families who came on foot last time it did look as if they had just wandered in by mistake (at least that was the comments some people made on some of the photos).

Just to throw the idea out to people. Should we help organise a pedestrian group of people to go to Parliament along with the main PoP3 group?

This would be for those who want things to be better but can't use a bike considering their circumstances.
