@DaveC, if you're a member you'll receive an annual reminder to renew in your mailout. Some non-members get the mailing too, but without extra goodies. As chdot says, there is a donation system: I reckon £5 is the minimum, most would give a bit more.

"Do you know how this works chdot?"

As far as I know, 'no fee is required' - donations average more than £5 - so for an organisation that has no staff (and map income) it all works fine without "contribution from Lothians councils".

Most people get newsletters and bumph delivered by volunteers on bikes (in Edinburgh and around), the £5 is (presumably) for postage.

Can I ask about the membership. I joined a few years ago, but don't know if its an annual fee or a one off payment? On the website it states member living in Lothians can join for free but those outside Lothians can join for a minimum of £5. Does this mean Spokes gets some contribution from Lothians councils? I do receive Spokes stuff, but its so infrequent that I don't know if I am a member of just on some mailing list? I don't wnat to join again if I am already a member. Do you know how this works chdot?

"
A new long distance ‘Sea to Sea’ tourist route is being planned from the Solway to the Forth…

A route map will be on sale later this Spring at £5, but all Spokes members will get a free copy in their Summer mailout at the end of May. If you’d like to make sure of a copy, join Spokes now!
