The pothole evidence seems to be that she didn't hit it (but no mention of possibly swerving to avoid it). Other factors mentioned include that she was carrying a heavy load of phone directories, her employers say she should have been using a car, the cycle brakes were said to be in poor condition. </p> http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=12409#post-173587 Wed, 26 Nov 2014 17:57:54 +0000 ianfieldhouse 173587@http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ <p>Just goes to show how random the outcome to falls can be. </p> <p>I came off my new MTB a couple of weeks ago at the mini roundabout at the top of Colinton Road and managed to bash my head and sustained multiple other impact wounds. I'm luckily none the worse for my fall other than lots of new holes and scars on my right elbow, bruised ribs and a potential problem with my jaw/back teeth that I should really get checked out.</p> <p>I wasn't wearing a helmet as I'd just been dropping the kids off at school and I'm not sure a helmet would have made any difference anyway as I hit my cheekbone on the ground rather than the top of my head. </p> <p>It was all down to a rather nice tyre wide pothole that grabbed my front wheel when I was looking over my shoulder while changing from the inside to outside lane.
