We were living in Montreal at the time and my girlfriend hit the deck thinking it was a gunshot.</p> <p>[There has been a organised crime related drive-by a few days earlier in an adjoining neighbourhood. Actually it was at Parc Extension which is nowhere near Westmount but I digress].</p> <p>I run Conti Ultra Sports, not had any problems with them. The rear tyre's sidewall had developed a cut and the tube had been expanding through it as I rode, unbeknown to me. They usually come with new road bikes. Use it as a 'tyre boot': tape it with masking or duct tape to the inside of the tyre where the cut is. Press the tape down firmly to smooth the edges. Pop tyre on wheel, inflate tube, ride. It is about 5mm long and about 4mm deep.
