Ooh, that is quite interesting wingpig. It's a funny body, they're like the highways agency, so they do the state highways ('highway' in this case meaning two lane road in the main) but they also do the safety, standards, licensing, registration etc. So there probably is room for some advocacy in there.

Insto, sounds like a Waikato winter, although apart from the odd freezing fog morning the temp rarely drops below 4-5 degrees.

Winter? What winter? It's been mild and almost completely ice free. Like a Scottish summer. Otherwise, the same old, same old.

Have a read of the Ranty Highwayman - they combine civilengineery infrastructure-employment with attempting-to-encourage-consideration-of-non-motors.

First cold ride of the year so far so made me cast back to Embra, nearly wished I had the red leg warmers on.

Everyone survive the winter okay?

$200 road bike is 5,000km down and still going well (minus the green bar tape and the slightly dodgy 'mangusta' decal). Volcanic chip roads still eating tyres, but lack of salt n' crap n' general detritus (aside from an alarming number of hedgehogs) on the roads means chains/cassettes have a significantly longer life.

Just interviewed for a job with the nz equivalent of the highways agency, so expecting some Jeremy Clarkson-esque conversion to petrolheadedness.

Found the perfect venue for a PY if anyone is around this way, they even have their own cycle jersey Rocket Coffee
