That would do nicely for the office.

My bad - I read it as £100 per bike and figured we could get twelve onto a parking space.

£100 for the whole thing does seem like a bit of a bargain, I might get some for the garage?

The spec is here if you are interested - http://www.sustrans.org.uk/sites/default/files/images/files/scotland/legacy_2014/Legacy-2014%20Cycle-Parking-Guidelines.pdf

Thanks for the link - trying to persuade work to replace the two wheel benders as the two main racks are always full now

Hang on - how much? Have you actually priced a basic 5 hoop toastrack lately?

£50-£70 generally gets you a decent galvanised hoop for 2 bikes, I read this as paying £100 for a 5 hoop toastrack, which would appear to be between 4.8 and 5.4m long - ie fits a car parking space - just.

Supply your own bolts to hold it down.

So for a little over a grand we could stick 12 staff-exclusive bike parking spaces into one of our allocated parking bays, *and* we would "own a piece of the games?"

I wonder if they would laser cut us the company logo and positions, like "Technical Officer" and "Development Team Manager" onto the blanks instead of that tatty games stuff. (Oh, if only the head of our Edinburgh office was a rider who follows CCE ;-)

I've asked for spec - from photos this is galvanised steel, the hoop bending has been done on a cheap machine/with 'thin' wall tube as the tube has 'flattened' at the bends.

Hoops are short (70cm?) and spacing looks tight 80cm? with tubular ground rails, which can be a pain for shorter wheelbase bikes.

Looks to be the 5-hoop toastrack design.

With Glasgow in 1995 I drew up rack specifications that set tube spec to 'heavy duty' 1.5" gas pipe, and minimum bend radius from mandrel bending, plus specs for quality of galvanising (thickness) and 'paint' finishing.

Ordering on price alone gets you thin walled tube and minimal galvanising, so be sure you know what you are getting.
