The street that goes down the edge of Meadowbank stadium? Wishaw Terrace. I usually hop on the left side pavement if I have to go that way (rarely). Only way to do it safely at the moment: pavement wide and usually deserted. A contraflow would be good, but drivers sometimes turn into the street from Lonfon Road too fast. They could make that quiet pavement shared use?

Possible route via very quiet Lower London Road, onto Abbey Lane and thence Milton Street (steps at end) or Croft-an-Righ (cobbley) to Holyrood Park. A toucan crossing at the junction 'twixt Wishaw Terrace and London Road would help. (Those roadworks not there any more BTW).

Tried to get from Lochend Park across London Road and into the park this afternoon, route avoiding that junction. Not easy even getting off and walking. There Dalgety Street (think that's it?) could definitely do with a contraflow for cyclists.

I think that's because of our feeder ride from Leith.

That's what I'd assumed. The mini-roundabout just before that junction is always 'fun'. Come to think of it so is the roundabout next to Lochend Park, and the one on Restalrig Ave. In fact any roundabout is 'fun' for cyclists when busy.

I think that's because of our feeder ride from Leith. from Lochend to HP was the first taste of normal motor traffic for the less experienced.

If that junction was a shocking eye-opener for McVey, I've got a list...

The elephant in to room is Leith Walk and how to get people on bikes from Leith to the city centre. Maybe next year we will experience the revamped Leith walk?

On Monday I'm going to look at how we can improve the meadowbank shopping junction for cyclists as a result of @POPScotland #pop2014

I live nearby and I'm not sure why the junction needs to be improved.

The only danger is caused by just how often cars occupy the ASL - but that's nothing other than a reflection of a police force which refuses to uphold that law in any part of Scotland.

(Zero tickets for that in the last 12 months.)

Presume he means here.

There is a shared use path/crossing but doesn't really lead to/from anywhere apart from an on-road cycle lane on London Road eastbound.
