Didn't plan this, but just finished reading Gironimo whole watching the final stage (after a family cycle). Got to say I really enjoyed it. His style still grates in places, but overall pretty good.

"if the three of you had a bike race, who would win?"

Would be Richard Moore, hands down. Assuming he has no ongoing I'll effects from his new(ish) hip.

Kindle version now £3.49. Enjoyed the serialisation on R4 this morning enough that I gave in and bought it. Would rather have paper, but at that price, the promise of instant gratification for bedtime reading too good to pass up.

Ah, I looked at it on amazon and assumed it had been out a whole, since out in paper. Now see release date 1 may, so out, but unlikely to be already ripe for loaning...

Much as I like listening to the Lips, I like reading about cycling more. I've read everything Tim Moore has ever written including a proof copy of his latest, Gironimo. I thought Ned Boulting's first book about cycling, once you got past the off putting title, was more perceptive than many written by experienced cycling journalists (*cough* Michael Barry *cough*).

@Try Cycle It starts at 7.30, so I toyed with the idea of watching the first hour then popping next door for the Lips (presuming their stage time is 9pm). However, given the inconvenience to others of exiting from the middle of a row and the fact that my friends could get the benefit of watching the whole thing, I decided against that plan...

Saw the lips at usher hall before. Put on a good show. After he came out the big see through beach ball he was walking on top of the crowd In, Wayne was exorting us at the end to be nice to strangers who might be sad. Found this all very droll as wondered whether strangers might tell me to F off.
