As a subtle nudge reminder (valid under the 2008 tram network revisions) I'm going to play Summerhall¹

¹drinks tomorrow night at the Royal Dick at Summerhall (see what I did there)

I hereby invoke the aforementioned 10-year Absence and Abstention (Scotland) Regulations 1978. Interestingly, subsections 3(g)(2) and 3(h)(2) uses the precedent of Lig Lury Jr whose lunch breaks merely marked a temporary period of absence, even when taken to excess. Frankly I think the author of the regulations was trying to sneak in pop cultural references and thought no-one would notice. At any rate, this game is still in progress.

Since recently built streets require a year's grace before being subject to the exclusion variations, I think I'll play the often overlooked Bannerman Cruik.

Ooh, sneaky move, steveo. Just as long as you're playing by the 'no circumventions using the M8 during Festival time' rule, otherwise you would find yourself in Niddry.

Really, this needs brought up to date, so I've dug out my copy of the D. Anderson Comprehensive Amendment (complete with Airport Inclusion Confusion Extension 318) that I found in a branch of a Save the Children bookstore in 2003 (signed).

Therefore from Rodney Street the only feasible option is to look at rule 55(1)(A)(a)(mcmxcci) which states that, "When in a location which is within 100 yards of a desired, but so far uncompleted, cycle facility*, the player must adopt the 'moonlighting' phase of play."

Therefore I shall private hire cab it to Pleasance.

*when this particular rule was drawn up the Rodney Street tunnel route was still a mere twinkle. The pedantic player would suggest that as it is now in existence the rule cannot be invoked. However, by dint of the 1917 Mindful Moments explanatory notes drawn up by the late, great Humphrey Lyttelton himself, personally I'd love the Scotland Street tunnel to be opened up, and this in itself counts as 'desired' for the purposes of the 2003 Amendment (marvellous foresight there from Humph 86 years previous).
