Perhaps not as bombproof as Gatorskins, Vitoria Rubino 3's are pretty swift, have decent puncture protection and (critically) aren't overly expensive.

I bought a pair from Ribble Cycles online at about £9.99 per tyre. They 'felt' significantly swifter than my Conti SuperSports. However, they don't always agree with every rim apparently. Might be worth seeing if Decathlon stock Rubinos and then head over to Hermiston (or indeed your LBS...) and see if they fit before parting with cold hard cash...

SRD - sorry, should have said that I found the stock tyres on my T3A poor so changed them fairly soon after getting it! The only other "possibly essential" change I would suggest is to fit new brake pads - the stock ones are ok when dry but aren't great in the wet.

Other than those two items.......

Aye Gatorskins will be tougher than the stock tyres and are easy to source, pop on to the rims fairly easily and are not too pricey. If you can squeeze 25s in that will be good.

Very happy with Gatorskins, they roll fine, the only puncture I've has was a roofing nail. They have a bad reputation for grip in the wet but I've never noticed tbh.

Only use Armadilloes at 25mm or greater, otherwise they come apart too easily.

Continental Gatorskins as a replacement perhaps? Or maybe Specialized Armadillos.

Tyres not up to much. Small piece of glass took a big chunk out of the rear tyre, out Balerno way.

and so it begins...

Nice bike.

I've got the lower spec 3A and I'm pleased with it for a first road bike. The only thing I would check straight away is the wheels - there were reports of problems with hubs not being greased and poorly tightened, but I've had no issues.
