It was Australian backpackers for a while who seemed to be working behing every Irish bar in town (back when every other bar in town seemed to be an Irish bar) but apparently it no longer became so profitable/affordable for them to leave Australia when the economic boom caused the Dollarydoo to appreciate. Apparently Irish bars are also no longer as trendy as hipster bars with bare wooden surfaces, burgers served on bits of slate and lots of "American style IPA" on offer.
