@Greenroofer

You are a gent. I can't really give the guy a hard time, having done the same thing in spades myself at a previous workplace. There, they had a Tannoy over which I was startled to hear a description of the ratty hybrid come one day. I slunk to the basement for my chastisement.

Unless of course the locking was some kind of passive-aggressive response to my implied criticism of his bike maintenance skills?

@IWRATS I await a sheepish colleague arriving at my desk clutching a luggage rack and an apology. I shall pass one or both on to you, as I see fit.

Clearly, if the luggage rack is still locked to the stand, there is a risk that the colleague has come to a sticky end in a rear-brake-failure-related accident.

So this morning at work as I chained up the ratty nineties hybrid I spot the bike on the other side of t'Sheffield rack has a brake cable down to three strands. I'm a nice chap at heart so I leave a note telling him his cable is on its last legs.

Leaving work, I unchain the ratty hybrid, but it goes nowhere. The lock that was on the other bike is...threaded through my luggage rack. Lucky I carry tools. I remove the rack, free the hybrid. I get a biro off a nice Aussie cyclist and put a note on the rack;

'Dear colleague. I hope the brake cable snapped and you are dead. If not, please give my luggage rack to Greenroofer.'

On the way home a startled moorhen ran under my bike. Between the wheels. And I got wet. Bah.

@Greenroofer - I'll call round on the 17th. Sorry about any fuss.
