It would be nice to see more 'utility' bikes with 650b and (of course) porteur racks!

How about the Cycles Toussaint 'Citie'...

FWIW, I'd love to have a 650B randonneur bike, but the issue would be tyres and tubes. Imagine being stuck on a hill somewhere in the highlands in the rain with a split tyre and tube. You need to carry a folding tyre in your bar bag, I suppose...

VO Polyvalent looks affordable.

Nice.

You may also want to look at some of the more established 650B randonneur cycles being produced on the French pattern, with low trail forks designed to be stable with a handlebar bag. 42mm tyres with mudguards: that's comfy!

Popular in North America:

Cycles Toussaint

Bicycle Quarterly, big fans of 650B.

You mean because it's 650b...?

"
650b was extremely popular in France half a century ago with traditional touring and utility bikes.

"

True

"

Though it never gained wider adoption and was largely been forgotten for a long time, it still has many fans and with the general popularity of wider tyres, it has a growing fanbase. It's fair to say we're starting to see a renewed interest in 650b.

"

Was 'kept alive' by a section of American tourers, enough for a company to start (re) producing stuff -

http://www.velo-orange.com

Recently the wheel size has had a revival in mountain biking because it's half way between 26" and ' 29" ' !!

That may be a fad.

It would be nice to see more 'utility' bikes with 650b and (of course) porteur racks!

Reading this story, thinking 'this bike might cope nicely with edinburgh riding'.
