I had an argument with my dad once about speedbumps on one of the rare occassions when I was letting him drive me somewhere in his car. The street was a 20mph zone with speedbumps and he was upset that I asked him to slow for the speedbumps. His logic was that a 20mph street should come with speedbumps fit for driving over at 20mph. My reasoning of upper limit, lower average speeds, slowing at certian points for safety of others was ignored as he insisted on continuing to hit each at an uncomfortable speed. He's a clever fellow, with many letters before and after his name, but that doesn't stop him being uncompormisingly daft behind the wheel.

Talks are being held to try and avoid the new roadworks, with transport leader Lesley Hinds saying the city will investigate imposing a lower speed limit over the bridge instead.

Why does Market Street (uphill) cycle lane only start after the Hotel, despite double yellows nearly all the way from the roundabout? Oh, because there's a short section of single yellows which I'm sure will be respected at all times and not be a de-facto Hotel loading bay. Just like the double yellows in the Missoni bay are'nt...

The eastern end of Market Street looks like the business as usual hazards of coaches, taxis, station drop-offs and U-turns, probably even worse than yore given the "no access into station" policy taken by Notwork Rail.

The plans for Waverley Bridge and Market Street (TRO/13/06) are out: http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/download/793/tro1306

There is a cycle lane with double yellow lines, on the south side of Market Street (West). There is also a raised table and narrowing of Waverley Bridge opposite the station entrances. There is a raised table at the roundabout at Waverley Bridge and Market Street.

Objections by 4th July
