STATS 19 under-reports accidents to varying levels for various reasons. Not all accidents have to be reported to the Police. Not all of those that should be are reported. Some that are reported to the Police are mistakenly recorded by the police. The Police may not realise that a particular path is a road, and not pass the details on to the council or government. So while the STATS19 data is the usually the best that we can get, it can't be relied on as much as we might like.

The osbornes website only covers 2011. similar data is available for 1979-2012, and the council will have it for 2013 too.

This accident map seems more informative than the other, not sure how comprehensive it is: http://www.osbornes.net/ukroadaccidentmap

Given that the council seem unsure whether core paths come under the definition of roads - see http://forum.talkporty.org/download/file.php?id=153 does this mean that accidents under STATS19 are not reported?

Haven't checked them for cyclist/ped interactions but there are a couple of maps on this thread including crashmap.co.uk.

Another here for cycleinjury.co.uk.

Something apparently here which my phone doesn't display.

There has been a lot of discussion on Facebook on the Porty People Forums, particularly relating to unsafe cyclists on the prom - https://www.facebook.com/groups/PortyPeople/672696102804456/?notif_t=group_comment_reply

I'd like to temper the debate with some statistics of reported cyclist vs pedestrian accidents for Edinburgh. I believe someone posted a link to a map a few months back showing each accident and the recorded details and location. Can anyone remember where this is located?

Thanks
