When I'm barrelling down a hill I tend to think about my tyres, spokes, bars and forks. Positive thoughts. But they are the things I put my trust in so maybe there's a bit more room in my affections for them.

I put non folding Kojaks on my S6L a few weeks ago and they have been great so far. I find Brompton's own tyres to be slow like Marathons but without the puncture resistance. I haven't tried Green Brompton tyres for a while but I had sidewalls blow out out on them twice. Two of mine came with Brompton's own tyres so I have a few in the garage and I was trying to use them to save a few bob but I was spending it all on patches and vulcanising solution.

I got a BWR for my S6L because I got fed up with the lack of water resistance on the left hand side of the SRAM. The BWR (and BSR) have labyrinthine seals and a further dust cap on the bearings. The ball ring bearing might pick up some dirt, it has a plastic cage, but it's easy to replace. My oldest one, M6R, still uses SRAMs but I've got two of them so when one gets crunchy I take it off and put on the other one while I mend the dirty one.

I've got Stelvios on the S2L-X which are a little lighter than the Kojaks but Schwalbe don't make them anymore.

Not SRAM Torpedo three speed hubs. It rains in this country.

Not Brompton's own tyres.

No allegiance beyond what's an online bargain when I happen to be shopping for the particular item, and more importantly, does it come in yellow?

I've been wholly won over by the SRAM trigger shifters (thumb/thumb as opposed to push/pull which you get with Shimano). Otherwise I don't really have any preference.

As a general rule, I buy whatever is cheapest that will do the job!

I'm not rich enough to have a preference ;)

My Genesis is all Shimano, given its made by Madison thats a given.

My Fisher has all sorts. The cassette/chain is SRAM the shifters/mechs are Shimano, really poor FSA chainset and cheap nasty bb. Rest is various quality all from Bonty though.

Is there any thing else so divisive as bicycle helmet efficacy? What about Shimano, Campagnolo and Sram? Do we each have a strong preference?

I used to be a raving Shimano fangirl, but I've been branching out more. I prefer Shimano derailleurs and shifters, but FSA cranks, Mavic rims, Hope hubs, Avid rim brakes and Hope disc brakes.

I have a Campag chainset which I don't like very much and was designed by Italians just to be difficult.
