Ed1 you will have no problem. This is my regular commute. Lots of space in carriages with disabled stickers on doors. No official bike racks (but this means that they can't say "Only two bikes per rack"!).

Assuming you mean Livi North, of course! Trains to Livi South less frequent but do have some bike space - you should be OK at 10am but I don't have personal experience.

I would think it would be okay, but others will have more recent experience than me.

I've not much experience of the Edingow-Glasburgh corridors in the past few years, but on the East Coast line to Dundee the service is usually very good. A few years ago there was a rash of heavily delayed trains, and overcrowding can be a problem southbound at Friday teatime. However I have long got around this commuter exodus bulge by travelling home later in the evening, on a train that is usually relatively quiet.

"The call follows ScotRail receiving a 56 per cent satisfaction rating in the annual Which? train survey this year, which placed it seventh among 19 British train operators."

That says a lot, if hardly more than half of your passengers are satisfied that puts you in the top seven train operators. The problem is clearly not ScotRail but systemic.

When I lived in Livingston I used the train daily to get to work.

Everything would run smoothly for 6 weeks or so, no delays, no standing. Then all of a sudden you would face 2 weeks of having to stand every day, and trains being late.

I was always of the opinion that there wasn't enough rolling stock, and that they just rotated which line(s) would be affected in a particular week.

"

Hundreds of train services are operating in the Capital each year without enough carriages, new figures have revealed.

ScotRail’s flagship route from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street was the worst affected with 1540 trains running below capacity between 2001-14.

Operator First ScotRail has been fined more than £2 million in that period for using too few coaches in a practice known as “short-forming”.
