If I want the sensation of wind in my hair I don't want to accompany it with unbalanced controls and excessive clattering. But if there's a pannier or rucksack available I'd definitely take it off if I'm on quiet roads. Every day I seem to pass more and more cyclists who have their helmet attached to their handlebars, round their seat post, banging off their top tube or attached to a bag.</p> <p>This morning, I came across someone cycling uphill one handed with their helmet in their other hand.</p> <p>Has anyone else come across this weird trend? Surely cant be as safe as wearing a helmet (or not carrying one) </p>
