"

Outlander has been in production in Scotland since September, filming in a vast temporary studio created in a warehouse in Cumbernauld, as well as at a range of outdoor locations, including Doune Castle in Perthshire, the villages of Falkland and Culross in Fife, and Loch Rannoch, in the Highlands.

Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government said the show, which has a budget of more than £50 million for the initial series, represents the biggest single inward investment in a film or TV production in Scotland, with around 200 crew based here working on the show.

Anyway, more traffic for Straiton. Any bicycle lanes being provided as part of this development with, apparently hotels and "leisure facilities" included? Public transport?

Here's what happens if you try and avoid the dual carriageway by taking the quiet, off-road route along the railway from Lasswade Road and then the Straiton Pond path...

I was about to comment that the Glasgow media mafia will not be best pleased, and are likely to lobby against this development in their own selfish interests. However Jim Hickey already beat me to it in the Hootsmon: “It’s great news, but Straiton will face great competition because most of the existing film industry is located in Glasgow.” I would add, IF it ever gets built: I expect Creative Scotland and the Scottish government will be fielding furious phone calls from Glasgow film producers as I type.

Anyway, more traffic for Straiton. Any bicycle lanes being provided as part of this development with, apparently hotels and "leisure facilities" included? Public transport?

Depends how you define Edinburgh.

"

Developed by a key figure from Ealing Studios – the home of a host of well-known films and television programmes – a blueprint has already been submitted to planning chiefs at Midlothian Council ahead of a scheduled opening date of 2017.
