Lots of Facebook posts to the local groups in the days leading up to the event but not a lot of hard-copy publicity in the public realm. </p> <p>I know some of the organisers - they didn't want a publicity blitz too early in case people later forgot about it, but I think a bit of earlier 'consciousness raising' wouldn't have gone amiss. </p> <p>People are already thinking about next year. Turned up with my 5yo to find an excellent turn-out. There were ladies only rides, treasure hunts on the local trails. </p> <p>The highlight for us was guys from Middleden MTB had arranged a little sample trail for the kids- she had a whale of a time and the guys were really attentive and helpful. The girl who rode home had much better bike handling skills and was much more confident than the girl who left home 2 hrs before.
