Now, retirement at 55 has a lot going for it but hardly a pensioner group. But I suppose a group heavily affected by interest rates, annuity and pension returns. Financially savvy people concerned that independence would take away the very benefits that the SNP had used to court them in the first place - council tax freeze, prescriptions and free education - while bringing higher mortgages and higher taxes to pay for all those spending commitments. I personally think it was a positive thing to do to engage the youth by empowering them. There are some very smart 16-17 year olds out there - they may be naive, but equally there are some very unenlightened yet seasoned voters too.
