If a train has to go ON another train then it probably won't have the clearance required for tunnels and bridges. So they put it on a truck. Just don't go via Cameron Toll. Or Slateford.

It often costs more money to send a train by train than on a truck - daft as it seems. Especially the case when the train has a damaged part that means it has to move slowly.

I've seen this before. Assume it's a damaged part of a unit that cannot be sorted at Haymarket so has to Glasgow for repairs. If it can't be drived or towed as a dead unit, it has to go by lorry.

Was this heading east?

I saw it going into the Haymarket Depot on Russell Road around 9:45.

On my cycle in this morning I saw a train on the back of a huge lorry going along past the zoo. A full carriage of the type typically used by ScotRail (it was a very big lorry!). Anyone know what was going on? I guess they have to transport trains by road at some point in their life ...
