yup, i'm a papermap girl too. but (inevitably) where we're going is in the middle of 2 maps, while the 'map tile' for download is EXACTLY the area we want - and only 1.99 for explorer; cheaper for the pink ones.

Nothing quite like a paper map, though (just like there's nothing quite like a Real Book...)
IMHO, of course. I have a good collection of 1:50 000s. My father must have at least 150 of them.

I use Dash4It for OS maps, and consistently they appear to be the cheapest for new OS maps, with rapid free delivery to boot, with the latest editions guaranteed.

For the price, I've tended to not bother looking for second hand ones.

Alternatively, you're welcome to borrow my GPS, with installed OS maps (or whatever), but the detail means it can be very slow for planning purposes, and the screen is small. Great for route following, though, and (depending on the map loaded) great for "direct me to the nearest X", as we've found on tour.

I'm a paper map+compass+GPS person, but YMMV!

Anyone use the OSMapfinder app?

any advice?

Debating whether to buy some (used) explorer maps for when we head off on hols, or download some map 'tiles'.
