Haven't been in for at least a couple of years...</p> <p>As a teenager in Kirkwall I sometimes used to go into the old fashioned snooker hall at the southern end of Victoria Street. No idea if it's still there, I somehow suspect not. Annoyingly I can't recall the proprietor's name, but I can still see the sign painted above the full length window, with heavy curtains to keep the warmth in. At Haymarket.</p> <p>I prefer the atmosphere of snooker halls, though a full size snooker table will usually mean a game ending in a black ball.</p> <p>The two at Hutchison x-way are interesting. The one nearest town centre has some good tables.</p> <p>See also of course the Jean luc Godard movie Detective starring the great Johnny Halliday.
