Chdot Well you could deliberately use whatever you have to hand - whatever colours - to highlight your thrift and skill.

Not sure I can pull off the Barbara Good look but if all else fails..

Arellcat IB's customer service advised me: "for small holes in my IB items I have darned them with fine cotton thread; it seems impossible to find fine woollen thread that will match and unfortunately we do not carry a supply."

Okay neat. I'll give it a go. Thanks!

My better half just requested that she be allowed to fling out a pair of red woollen socks I bought from Next when they brought out their catalogue in 1989.

I am sure they had a good life Gembo!

My better half just requested that she be allowed to fling out a pair of red woollen socks I bought from Next when they brought out their catalogue in 1989. More darns in them than original wool. All things must pass.

Note also that Icebreaker and International Bar share the IB shortening.

My IB long sleeved Jersey hasa frayed cuff I am not ecstatic about. Ah but wait it was bought at Leckies of falkirk for £29.99 so now Am I bothered?

One of my Icebreaker merino tops has a very small hole in it; it's the 150 gram fabric so it's really quite delicate.

Well I can't see any other sign of moths and no other woolens are affected. So hopefully not. I wondered if I could darn it with cotton or something? I suppose I may as well try it since the alternative is throwing it out. I have only had it 3 years so I feel it is too soon.

Not moths I hope? Folk used to darn stockings so I imagine merino can be darned with smaller needle and thinner wool.? Arellcat knows a place out by Macmerry industrail estate that repairs goretex etc?

My fave cycling dress has begun to develop a hole or two over the past few months. In fact it is beginning to resemble Rab C. Nesbitt's vest.

The material is rather thin. Can you darn merino wool or am I on a hiding to nothing and as soon as I plug the gaps, more will appear? The holes are pretty small.
