&#60;p&#62;Groningen awoke the interest of international media by installing a rain–sensor at traffic lights which gave the green–light to cyclists more frequently in wet and snowy conditions. When the media are interested, the citizens become engaged and the politicians listen!&#60;/p&#62;

Getting the Message Right&#60;br /&#62;
The CHAMP project gathered leading cities in the field of cycling development to look at innovative ways to further boost cycling in their cities and enhance their local policies. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Measures that were implemented in CHAMP include route based cycling promotion, creative bike parking solutions, bicycle accounts, innovative awareness raising and marketing campaigns for different target groups, and user involvement strategies.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;This event will share insights into getting the message right for marketing and promoting cycling – with examples of defining target audiences, marketing design (branding, messaging, signage, and mapping), working in partnership, embedding approaches, tips and challenges. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Date: Thursday 16 October 2014&#60;br /&#62;
Time: 5.30pm for 6.00pm (duration approx. 1½ hours). Light refreshments available from 5.30pm&#60;br /&#62;
