Altho the time I did the sustrans Glas to Edin route the wind came from the east rather than the predominantly westerly prevailing direction. There are quicker routes than Sustrans - starts nicely along clyde til uddingston - then takes in the joys of Coatbridge and Airdrie then onto what was a good path but has been reclaimed by train. Link to Bathgate and Pyramids through the country park which is nice then Livy, Calders, K'newton. The quicker routes that are equally non- scenic.
