Fixed that for you.

But the Gresley Society Trust changed the design because two of his grandsons thought that people wouldn't understand the relevance of the duck and think it was bizarre and out of place and be all over Twitter saying so.

"

A statue of railway engineer Sir Nigel Gresley has been unveiled at King's Cross station - with the notable absence of a duck to keep him company.

A mallard was originally included as Sir Nigel liked breeding water fowl and locomotives he designed, including Mallard, were named after birds.

But the Gresley Society Trust changed the design because two of his grandsons thought the duck was "demeaning".

It has not been reinstated and three trust members resigned.

"

Doncaster’s first public square has been formally named ‘Sir Nigel Gresley Square’. The name honours the legendary locomotive engineer Sir Nigel Gresley who designed and oversaw the creation of world famous locomotives like the Mallard and the Flying Scotsman in the town.

The plaque is inside the old ticket hall, on the wall above the entrance into the East Coast ticket office. (If my memory serves me correctly)

"
A memorial plaque to Gresley's achievements was unveiled at Edinburgh Waverley railway station in 2001. It was created by the Gresley Society and incorporates line drawings of his "Flying Scotsman" and "Mallard" locomotives.

"
