Thoroughly uneventful ride, only point of note being a gent at Haymarket on a silver MTB with one of those kids bikes you clamp onto the seat post (don't know the technical term, you know what I mean, the ones without a front wheel) trying to hold a phone conversation and pedal his long vehicle at the same time. No sign of the kid, presume it fell off a couple of miles back.</p> <p>I'd like to offer thanks to the pontiff for arranging for the headwind to drop to a more tolerable level. I'd also like to thank him for arranging to have the hole where Corstorphine Road meets Roseburn Terrace filled in, after sitting open and unattended for about a month (with a mocking sign apologising for the "essential gas mains work") and causing the bus lane to be blocked.
